All conference participants are cordially invited to exchange ideas with the other conference participants in a cozy atmosphere and to get in the mood for the conference.

Business yoga for a perfect start to the conference

Business yoga in the morning is very well suited to reduce stress, promote concentration and increase the general well-being. The goal is to take a short time out before the start of the conference and then start the day relaxed and full of energy.

Time: Tuesday, 19.09.2023 from 08:00 a.m. to 08:30 a.m. Meeting point is at 07:55 a.m.

Do I have to register? No! You can simply participate without registration and free of charge.

Who can participate? The course is intended for anyone interested in yoga. So you don’t need to have any experience to join. Even people who have been participating for a while will enjoy it.

Do I need sportswear? The exercises are all chosen in a way that allows you to do them wearing conference or everyday clothes and are specially designed “only” for activation and not for sweating! So you don’t need to bring extra sports clothes or take a shower afterwards! It is best to bring a towel for the exercises.

Visit the exhibition at the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF) 

The Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF) in Paderborn invites you to discover and try out!  The world’s largest computer museum is located directly above the event rooms of the WI23 conference. Experience the history, present and future of information technology on 6,000 square meters of exhibition space – from the first characters to typewriters and calculating machines to early computers and current robots.  

There are two ways to visit the exhibition: 

1. on your own

Time: The exhibition can be visited at any time during the conference

Location: The exhibition is located on the second floor of the HNF accessible via the escalator in the entrance area

What do I have to pay attention to? Please wear your WI23 participant badge visibly around your neck and show it to HNF staff upon request.

Is there a digital multimedia guide? Yes! The multimedia guide is available in German and English and can be borrowed free of charge at the counter in the entrance area for a deposit (e.g. ID card).

2. general museum tour  

Time: On Tuesday, 19.09.2023 and Wednesday, 20.09.2023 both at 14:30 (duration: approx. 60 min.)

Location: The meeting point for the general guided tour is at the counter in the entrance area in the HNF 

Do I have to register for the guided tour? Yes! The guided tours are limited to a maximum of 25 persons each. Therefore, please register here for the guided tours.

WI Turns 18

The 18th International Conference on Business Informatics is already taking place in Paderborn! Together with all conference participants we would like to celebrate the ” come of age” of WI. On 19.09.2023 there will be a reception with the motto ‘WI turns 18’.

Time: Tuesday, 19.09.2023 starting at 20:00 p.m.

Morning Run

For all morning athletes we offer a joint running meeting on Wednesday before the conference. The running distance is about 4.5 km and leads along the Pader to the Padersee and ends at Maspernplatz.

Time: Wednesday, 20.09.2023 from 07:30 to 08:00 a.m. Meeting point is at 07:25 a.m.

Location: The meeting point is in front of the Welcome Hotel (Fürstenweg 13, 33102 Paderborn). The run ends at approx. 8:00 a.m. at Maspernplatz in front of the Paderhalle (Heiersmauer 45, 33098 Paderborn).

Do I have to register? No! You can simply take part in the event free of charge without registering.

Who can participate? Everyone is welcome here. It doesn’t matter if you don’t do any sports outside of conferences or if you are a professional training for your next marathon. The first priority here is the friends of movement and the personal exchange. We run in such a way that everyone comes along.

Do I need sportswear? Please wear running shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.

City tour with a difference: A foray through the Paderborn graffiti scene

Graffiti is omnipresent in Paderborn’s cityscape and can be found in a wide variety of forms. During this guided tour, Sven Niemann, a member of Generation Arts, an association of local actors from Paderborn’s art and culture scene, and a research associate in the DFG-funded graffiti project “Ingrid” at the Paderborn University will show the different types that can be found on the walls in downtown Paderborn. He explains what is behind graffiti, how they are created, and how they are to be classified historically.

Note: If you are interested, please register as part of the registration process for the meeting, as the tour is limited to a maximum of 30 people.
