WS 11: Intelligent, Data-Based Services

Workshop description

Acquiring and analyzing virtually unlimited amounts of data at marginal cost enables data-driven service innovations. While many organizations have recognized this potential and are trying to enhance existing products and services or establish new services, this is often associated with major challenges. Therefore, it is crucial to understand how the potential of digital technologies (e.g., machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital assistants) can be exploited efficiently and sustainably.

The Special Interest Group Services (SIG Services) of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) is organizing a workshop on “Intelligent, Data-Based Services” as part of WI 2023 in Paderborn. We invite information systems researchers who conduct research in data-based service innovation as well as decision-makers from organizations facing the challenges of establishing and managing data-based services. In an interactive workshop format, we want to collect relevant questions for research and practice and discuss how these can be jointly addressed in the future.

The workshop will start with a keynote of the AIS SIG Services before we will have a panel with experts from science, industry, and politics, to discuss intelligent, data-based services from multiple-perspectives. In the second phase of the workshop, we will work in small groups to develop and consolidate critical future questions and perspectives on data-based services for research and practice. A final consolidation of the results and outlook will conclude the workshop.

Intended target group: Scientists from the WI community and decision-makers from business and politics
